Celebrating River Wye to raise funds for mental health.

Last Saturday 3rd July, Wycombe Mind members walked 10km to raise awareness around mental health and funds for National Mind. Over 20 members took part, beginning in Bourne End and following the river Wye to The Rye in High Wycombe where there was a picnic provided on the banks of the Wye. The Deputy Mayor Councilor Lesley Clarke, MBE greeted the triumphant walkers at the end.

This pandemic has given us more reason to fight and advocate for better mental health support and resources. Events such as these ensures that services such as Wycombe Mind are able to support their local community in recovery from mental health issues.

This walk was the first fundraising event Wycombe Mind has hosted in over a year and gave the local community a chance to come together to connect and to be active. Covid-19 measures were in place during the walk and picnic to ensure everyone had a safe and enjoyable day. We are proud to say we raised over £700 for national Mind!

The event was such a success that we are considering running another one very soon, this time from West Wycombe to the Rye. For more information, or to take part, please contact Wycombe Mind at 01494 448279 or at [email protected]
